In 2 Kings 22 Josiah sent his servant to collect money that was given to the house of the Lord to be used to repair all the damages. When his servant went, the book of the Lord was found and Josiah's servant read it to Josiah.
2 Kings 22:11 Now it happened, when the king heard the words of the Book of the Law, that he tore his clothes.
Josiah then sent his servants to inquire of the Lord and God said "I will bring calamity on this place and on its inhabitants because they have forsaken Me and burned incense to other gods.. My wrath shall be aroused against this place and shall not be quenched."
After this Josiah humbled himself before the Lord and God decided to wait and not bring his wrath against Josiah.
in chapter 23 Josiah begins repenting and turning the nation back to God by tearing down the high places, removing idols and magicians from the house of God and tearing down idols located throughout his kingdom.
2 Kings 23:25 Now before him there was no king like him, who turned to the Lord with all his heart, with all his soul and with all his might, according to all the Law of Moses; nor after him did any arise like him.
That last verse really sums up the life of Josiah, and how there has never been a king like him nor will there be. It was really something special to stand so strongly and not allow any gray areas or allow your people to persuade your beliefs. But Josiah said I am going to do the will of the Lord and nothing will turn me to the left or the right I'm looking straight ahead!
